barefoot in the kitchen...

... with my apron string tied tight. : )

I've said it before, and I will probably say it again. I love to cook. And one of my favorite parts is getting to wear my awesom-ly (yes, I know that's not a word) cute apron!

Today I was cooking zucchini bread. It turned out delicious. Ben will be excited to have a fresh and yummy breakfast that will last the week. : )

In other news:
Rebekah LOVES calling people on the phone now. And of course, now she is not content to talk on her "play" phones anymore... she has to talk on my phone to Grammy. :) It is very cute.
And Thomas.... well, Thomas is a Roley Poley now. He will roll across the whole living room. And he is getting more and more personality every day. I am thinking once he gets a little older he will be a major instigator of trouble.... but alas, I will not rush that... we will just have to wait and see. That's all for now!
Love from me:

Birthdays!!!!

June is a packed full month of little celebrations. First, there is Ben and I's anniversary, then Rebekah's birthday, from there it's Father's Day, and finally we get to the one I like best... Jene''s Birthday!!! (for those that don't really know, Jene' is my twin sister, so yes, that means it's MY birthday) :) hehee

Ok, so it's not really the best day in June, but it is definitely a special day. And so... that was yesterday. Here's a little fun recap for ya.
Jene' and I decided we wanted Tombstone pictures (you know the old timey kind... where you dress up as saloon girls, cowboys, or whatever) and we wanted Henna tattoos... The day actually started with a quick trip to Wal*Mart, because come on, we had to dress up for the day... and what's a twin adventure without looking like... you got it, TWINS. :)

From there we had a small...ish detour at home and then we were on our way. We stopped at the Circle K in Tombstone for a Diamond Dog lunch, then headed for the boardwalk. We got to our "usual" Tombstone picture place in no time. ((I say usual because we've probably gotten pictures done there at least 5 times, more for Jene')) We dressed up as saloon girls, which was a first because we usually do the cowboy/cowgirl thing. It was fun.

From there we walked a little more slowly down the boardwalk and went to the Ice Cream & Fudge shop. And that was definitely a GREAT idea because it was, oh.... about 104 degrees outside. Pictures and ice cream was pretty much the extent of our jaunt into the "Town Too Tough To Die", but not the end of our little celebration.

After we got home and "relaxed" for a small bit, Jene' and I went out again. This time by ourselves. (Ben decided to stay home with the kids so we could have special sister time.) From there, we went by the mall to get the Henna tattoos done. After waiting for 3 people to get their eyebrows done {ok, so the place that does Henna also does this weird string facial hair removal thing} Anyways... after we waited for those 3 (and while looking through a henna design book that the lady handed us....) she told us they were out of henna.... nice.

Then onto dinner. Outback Steakhouse was our restaurant of choice. Mainly because neither of us had every really been there. We ordered drinks and an appetizer right off the bat. Peach Black Cherry Mojitos and jumbo shrimp cocktail. For our main course we both ordered snow crab legs and sirloins w/ a baked potato. And I have to say... although their food was good, Texas Roadhouse wins hands down on steak. Then we even got a birthday sunday, complete with singing waiters.

It was a fantastic day! So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my lovely sister, and to me as well. Next up.... The 4th of July!

Rebekah's Bday Bash

was a SUCCESS! We all had so much fun!
Grammy rented a jumping castle for the party, and Rebekah spent little time out of it. Family and a few close friends came to help her celebrate... it was an all around good time.

Rebekah jumping...

Here's a picture of the cake (which was SO fun to make... and I think Rebekah was impressed by it)...

Opening Presents...

It was definitely a good day, but I am looking forward to the 6 month break before I have to start planning Thomas' 1st birthday!!!

Time for a change...

Today Rebekah got her very first hair cut. As cute as she is, it was starting to look like she was sporting a mullet. I figured if I cut her hair while she is younger (and while it is shorter/thinner) it will grow out more even in the long run. I don't know if I'm right or not, but there is no turning back now!

                                                 AFTER:

I guess we can say it's more like a pixi cut. I think it is incredibly sweet. That said.... I can't wait until it is grows out nice and long!!!

who says you have to wait for June 21.......

... to consider it summer!?!
It's beautiful out side! Rebekah loves to go out and play in the yard, and in the pool. Thomas is definitely much happier if he spends some time out in the fresh air.
Aren't they adorable??! : )

I love to cook....

But I am not a gourmet chef by any means. I have to say that my favorite "cookbook" is not a book at all. There are so many awesome recipes that can be found online. My current "project" is finding something to do with all the apricots that the tree in our back yard is producing. Right now, I have an experiment of apricot leathers in the oven. (In case you don't know what that is... it's pretty much a homemade fruit roll-up). I am looking forward to trying them out once they are done baking!! And next on my agenda is an apricot pie.
I've only made one pie in my life, and that one turned out mediocre.... so I'm hoping for better results the next time around!! Maybe next year I will get really brave and try my hand at making preserves... but we will see.
After the apricots come the peaches.... now peaches, they are MY favorite! I'll have to find something extra special to do with those!!
But until then... I need to go check on the oven!
Bon Appetite!
