From the time he was born, Tommy didn't like anything on his feet. While he was iity-bitty, it was easy enough just to keep footie rompers on him all the time. But when summer came, we said goodbye to those outfits. He spent the long summer and fall with naked feet, and that suited him just fine. Well, now it's winter... and it's just too cold out there for his little feet to be bare.
It's been a challenge keeping socks on his feet... so I thought "SHOES!" that would be a quick fix.... it just was not so. At least not regular shoes. Within 5 minutes, the shoes are off. Quickly followed by socks. Every day, every time we went anywhere, we'd loose shoes and socks.
That brings us to today. I got the kids ready socked and shod. By the time we got to the mall, Tommy was, once again, barefooted. I decided, "Eh, it's warm enough in the mall it won't matter." That is until we met up with Meemaw. (My grandma, the kids' great-grandma) While I was making an appointment for studio pictures, she disappeared. As soon as we found each other again she told me, "I just CAN'T stand it anymore. That boy needs to have something on his feet!" She had bought him socks and shoes that lace and go above his ankle... "That way he can't kick them off."
So there you have it. New shoes...
And, of course, Rebekah can't get left out of the shopping adventure. While at the Children's Place, she found a hat that was just too adorable not to get.

2/365: Jan 2
The baby is coooold! Rebekah is a good momma to her babies. Her newest favorite "dolly" is Baby Aurora, a Christmas present from her Uncle Nathan. :)
In other news... I can't believe it's almost Tommy's birthday. 8 more days until our little man is ONE!!
I got stuff to make his cake today while I was at the grocery store. No drab and boring bakery sheet cakes for this momma... I found a cake online that I'm going to try making. We will see how it turns out! And THAT will definitely be a blog worthy project! :-D

1/365: Jan 1
We are so blessed to live in this small city. Sierra Vista. Mountain View. In any direction you look here, you can see beautiful mountains. And whether it is sunrise or sunset, there is a beautiful backdrop to view God's work.
And what a sight to start off the new year. The Huachuca Mountains with a dusting of snow and bright highlights from the sunrise. I wouldn't have chosen to have been awake that early this morning... but the view when I went outside this morning more than made up for it.

A New Year and a New Plan
So..... taking to heart my love for photography I thought to myself... why not try the 365 photo challenge!?
For those who don't know what that is.... It's a challenge to post a picture and tidbit every day. And let's face it, as a mom of 2 little ones, I should have PLENTY of subject matter. Not to mention all the other things that catch my eye (scenic, sunsets/rises, flowers, and everything else)
My own personal challenge will be to advance on my photographic abilities and style. So at the end of the year, I can look back and see if I am taking not only taking "pictures"... but going beyond that and take excellent photographs.
So, bring it on 2011! I'm looking forward to what you have for us ahead in the coming year!

swimming octopuses
When Rebekah came out of the bathroom carrying an armful of bath toys, I told her those toys stay in the bathroom. So she put them away. When she came out of the bathroom she told me they went swimming. Little did I think about the implications of that little statement.
Fast forward a few hours... I had to pee. So to the bathroom I went. And got quite a surprise when I lifted the toilet lid. There swimming in my toilet were 5 colorful octopuses.
Needless to say, I put off my relief and went fishing. Then set up a nice bleach bath for the dirty octopuses to swim in for awhile.
Oh the joys of having a two year old. :)

all gussied up
Yesterday, Ben's sister got married. Lissa asked Rebekah to be one of her flower girls... she was the cutest thing EVER. And she did a great job! Ben didn't think she would go through with going down the aisle, but she did and it was great.
So, a small CONGRATULATIONS to Melissa and Luke (although they won't see this)...
And a picture of our family, dressed to the nines. :)
