Road Trip!!!

In two weeks we are going to be going to California. And we're driving!! I have no idea what this is going to entail, having an almost 2 year old, and a 4 month old. Right now I am busy making, checking, and re-formatting lists to make sure we have everything that we will need + more. It definitely is a lot different packing for babies than it is packing for just two adults! But this is the way it's going to be from now on! (Unless by some miracle Ben and I are able to take a "Daddy & Mommy Only" trip sometime!)
ANYWAYS.... We will be going to Yosemite National Monument one day, then the rest of the trip we will be staying near Sacramento. (We are heading out that way for Ben's sister, Melissa's, college graduation.) And on the drive home we will make an overnight detour in Las Vegas, NV to see my brother and sister-in-law. So it is going to be a jam-packed week away from home, but I am looking forward to it!!! And hopefully I will have some blog worthy stories or antidotes and, of course, pictures to share with you all!

Whittney's Rambles

So... Many people don't understand the fascination and slight obsession I have with fonts and layouts, but it's there. I am constantly looking to see if there is a new font that I love, and then I try to find how many different things I can do with my fonts. My all time favorite place to get fonts is http://www.kevinandamanda.com/fonts/. There I can find handwriting fonts, and fun fonts. I LOVE it!! And I get tired of looking at the same layout all the time... that and there are soooo many cute ones to choose from!! All of that was basically to say... This blog probably won't stay the same for a very long span of time. I will probably either change up the layout or my signature.... or something so keep an eye out! :)

Play date Fun

Today we had a play date and picnic in the park. It's nice to have a friend with kids around the same age as mine. Rebekah loves going to the park, and she has even more fun when she gets to play with someone else her "size".

Tommy's not old enough to enjoy the park much, but he has a little buddy to learn and play with when that time comes. And of course, it's nice to be able to sit and talk with a friend while the kids play. :)
{and just a little rant: I hate it when other mom's don't pay attention to their kids and let them run wild and be mean to other smaller kids}

Going to Church...

Before we moved to SV, we used to go every week to Calvary Chapel in Tucson. But when we moved here, Rebekah had gotten to the point where she would no longer sit still or nap in our arms during service. So ended our going to church; because at that time we did not want to put her in nursery. We feel it is important to raise the kids worshiping as a family.....
...fast forward almost a year later...

We felt the need to get back into a church, so we decided it couldn't hurt to *try* and put Rebekah in the nursery until she was old enough to understand and be able to sit still & be quiet for a longer period of time. The week before Easter, we went to Calvary SV... and I was surprised at how well Rebekah did. Sure, she would fuss a little here and there, but not enough the nursery workers thought we needed to be called. This week, however, was a DISASTER. She screamed and cried from the moment we dropped her off until they came to get me and I picked her up. Maybe it was just a one time thing, maybe she just isn't ready to be put in a nursery. I guess this is one of those things where we just have to keep trying until she's okay & comfortable with us leaving her.

I am really missing church services though. :(

Learning....

I am amazed at how much and how fast Rebekah is learning new things. It seems everyday she has a new word added to her vocabulary... and sometimes I wonder where she heard the words she says. Even more so, her early words are starting to become more understandable. For instance, when she first learned what a cat says, it was "eowm" now she says "meow".

And with how much she is learning it makes me think, somewhat warily, about the daunting task ahead that is homeschooling. That is one of the things Ben and I agreed on before we had kids... we (meaning I) would at least try home school, and if it doesn't work out then we will find a private Christian school for the kids to be enrolled in. And that said, I think it would be extremely exciting to home school our kids. It's just the early years that make me squirm. [{I don't know how to teach!}] Especially not the basics of phonics and reading. BUT! Many women have done it before me, and I am sure I can do it too. And if I get stuck, Ben's mom can help me (she has home schooled 8 kids!) and I can also get the help of my friend Erin, who is homeschooling her daughter right now.

But all in all... this is something I will not have to worry too much about for a few more years. That doesn't mean I can't start some form of preschool at home, but still... I don't think she is quite ready for that either. I'm in no hurry to have my little girl (or guy) grow up too fast. They can enjoy these next few years just growing and learning in and about the world as they know it.

Oh, and just to add a little excitement to this post...
This is what happens when a toddler finds Mommy's makeup :)

It's been awhile... Too long!

It's been WAY too long since I have updated this blog. Last time I wrote, we had just found out I was pregnant. Since then we found out we were going to have a boy.... and we had him!
Thomas Barrett White made his appearance 3 days late on January 10, 2010. Rebekah loves being a big sister! Speaking of Rebekah, she is growing up so fast! Everyday it seems that she learns a new word. It makes me so proud, but I realize that I need to cherish every day because time is not going to slow down for my sake.Tommy is almost 3 months old, and we cannot believe the impact he has had in our lives. We adore him and Rebekah. Here are a couple recent pictures of them.God has blessed us and our family so much. I am looking forward to what is in store for our future.(and I'm hoping I will do better with keeping up with the blog now!!)
